Our Spring into Summer Sale is coming up Saturday June 9th. This year we will be teaming up with Victoire and friends to add some vintage wares as well as our awesome crafts to the event.

Once again we are looking for seasonally appropriate crafts that appeal to a wide range of customers. We are always trying to diversify; if you are applying with jewellery, bags/purses or pillows please keep this in mind. Remember, guys like to shop too.

- 5 .jpeg images that illustrate the range of items that you wish to sell.
- Price points.
- A brief (max 250 words) description of your work.
- Business name. Please make sure all correspondence contains your name and business name.

Costs

$45 for space. you bring your own table ( no larger than 6ft x 3ft) or display equipment.

$50 for table and space.

$60 for table and additional space provided for free standing display

Those accepted as vendors by the jury will be contacted no later than Monday April 16th.

Fundraising and Vendors

As usual we are doing a little fundraising for another great project in our community. We will have great prizes up for raffle to help raise funds for the Urban Nature School Initiative. Please stop by the raffle table at the show.

Carp Ridge Learning Centre, in partnership with Cambridge Street Public School, is launching their Urban Nature School Initiative. This initiative will raise funds to build an outdoor, nature classroom in the heart of downtown, Ottawa, to be used for outdoor, play-based, and sustainable education opportunities. It is a joint venture and will also be utilized in the summer months for an Urban Nature Art program offered to children with and without special needs. In the school year, it will provide the school with an outdoor learning environment emphasizing loose, natural, and sustainable parts.

We need to raise $10,000 by April, 2012, when "Evergreen" will be implementing their design and build process in collaboration with the students. We envision a permanent teepee, small trails, more container gardens for growing vegetables, a climbing space, a canoe, an outdoor solar oven, and much more. The space will also be open to community health and social groups for programming use.

More Info	Idle Hands Craft Show is a unique holiday gift sale of local handmade items. Something for everyone, naughty and nice. Admission is $2 THIS IS A CASH ONLY EVENT We are looking forward to seeing you at the show. It is a great opportunity to buy quality, one of a kind, handmade holiday gifts for those on your list or perhaps find a few things for yourself. Or just come and be inspired to make some gifts of your own. Idle hands is about giving local artist and crafters an opportunity to sell things they love to make, to connect with other creative people and sell their wares at reasonable prices without a middle man. It is also a place for people to come see and meet some of the regions best independent talent and buy directly from them. Why would you go to the mall and buy factory made massed produced items that have been shipped here from half way around the world? This year we have included some local photographers, painters and print makers. We have some delicious vegan baking and chocolates. Preserves made using recipes that have been passed down generations. There will also be gorgeous knits and felted work made into clothing, hats and children's toys. Jewellery made with silver, wood, upcycled vintage and other mixed media pieces. Clocks, pillows and other home decor items. Screen printed shirts, scarves and upcyled clothing. Recycled leather wallets, purses and bags. Collage work, cards and stationary. Soaps, face and body care products made with natural essential oils. Beautiful ceramics and hand blown glass. New this year we're featuring seasonal floral creations. The list is endless and all items are handmade. We are also fundraising for the Cambridge ST School Outdoor Classroom. Come join us for our first annual spring sale, to be held at St.Luke's Anglican Church 760 Somerset Street West , in the heart of Ottawa's Chinatown, from 10am till 5 pm, Saturday June 11 2011 .

We are offering up delicious food, unique jewelry, clothing, artwork, bath and body products, children's toys, glass works , music, home decor, letterpress prints, and much much more.

Admission is $2 with a chance to win one of our fabulous door prizes ! Please note that this is A CASH ONLY EVENT !

This year we will have a fund raising raffle to help support the non-profit arts collective Chinatown Remix's growth and future events. Prizes have been kindly donated by our vendors, as well as local businesses, including Venus Envy, Patrick Gordon Framing, The Papery, Restaurant 18, Social, artist Adrian Gollner, to name a few.

Idle Hands Spring into Summer Craft Sale 2011 call for vendors

The Idle Hands Spring into Summer Craft Sale, a unique sale of local handmade items will be held on June 11, 2011 at St.Luke's Anglican Church, 760 Somerset Street West, in the heart of Ottawa's Chinatown. We are looking for best of local crafters and artisans to showcase their wares .
If you are interested in participating, please send your name and contact info, website link ( if applicable ), a brief description of your work (materials used, type of work, price points, etc. ) and a minimum of 3 low-res photos to idlehandscraftsale@gmail.com no later than May 2,2011. All successful applicants will be notified by May 5, 2011. Space is limited, so apply early.
Before sending in an application, please carefully read the Terms & Conditions. By applying to the show you are agreeing to the following :
Terms & Conditions
Thanks for your interest in participating in the Idle Hands Craft Sale All items sold at the Idle Hands Craft Show must be handmade. This is a juried event with a limited number of slots. We receive many applications and cannot accept everyone. The application deadline is May 2, 2011. We will send out notifications by May 5 . We will not consider your application if it is not complete or if we receive it after the deadline.
Sharing:
You may share a space with another vendor, BUT you must apply together. This is a juried event so we must approve both of you. Put info about Vendor #2 in the “Briefly Describe Your Craft” section and include photos from each of you.
Space:
Each vendor will have a space that is 6 ft. x 5 ft., a table and two chairs. Vendors are responsible for setting up their display, this includes hauling and setting up . We have an extremely small staff, and it is your responsibility to haul your belongings and to set up & break down your display. A table and two chairs per table will be provided. The fee for a table will be $30.00, a table with an area for a clothing rack or display is $35.00 .
Day of the Event:
The event takes place Saturday, June 11 from 10am till 4pm at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 760 Somerset Street West . Set up will start at 9 am .

Responsibility: Idle Hands is not responsible for personal injury or any items damaged or stolen during the duration of the event (including move-in, move-out, and the during the hours of the event). It is the responsibility of each vendor to transport their belongings and to not leave valuables unattended. Idle Hands is not responsible for your belongings.

Looking to make your shopping more festive this year? Idle Hands Craft Sale has found the Ottawa region's most creative artists and craftspeople to bring you oodles of handmade choices for all those deserving folks on your list. And with many of our sellers incorporating salvaged materials into their wares, buying local can mean buying green, too.

We are also raising money for Lady Evelyn Alternative School. All our amazing vendors have donated loot to be raffled off as well as art work by Danny Hussey, Ian Roy, gift certificates from Eighteen, Social Restaurant and Lounge, Hush, Patrick Gordon Framing and more!!!

Idle Hands 2009

We hosted the first the first annual IDLE HANDS craft show and sale on Sunday, November 19th, and visitors were lined up outside before the opening. Primed in part by an interview on CBC's Ottawa Morning with Jenn Stone, Joanna Swim, and Karina Bergmans, the crowds didn't let up until the end of the day. The webmaster even got some Christmas shopping done...assuming she can keep her hands off the awesome pickles and jellies until December 25th. Shoppers were also encouraged to browse the Patrick Gordon Framing back room full of old frames, and took away some bargains there too.
